Akshay Kumar Praises Son Aarav’s Simplicity, Left Home At 15, Buys Second-Hand Clothes; ‘Doesn’t Believe In Wastage’

Akshay Kumar, known for keeping his children out of the public eye, made a rare exception on cricketer Shikhar Dhawan’s new talk show, Dhawan Karenge on Jio Cinema. During the conversation, Akshay opened up about his son Aarav’s career aspirations and his journey so far.

Akshay revealed that Aarav, who is currently studying at a university in London, has no interest in joining the film industry and is instead pursuing a career in fashion. Reflecting on Aarav’s decision to study abroad, Akshay shared, “Aarav left home at 15 to study in London. He’s always been passionate about his education and wanted to live independently. Even though I didn’t want him to go, I couldn’t stop him because I left home at 14.”

The proud father praised Aarav for his grounded nature and self-reliance. “Aarav does his own laundry, cooks, and even washes the dishes. He doesn’t splurge on expensive clothes and prefers buying from second-hand stores like Thrifty to avoid wastage,” Akshay said.

Despite Aarav’s strong film industry lineage, Akshay shared that his son has chosen a different path. “We never pressured him to follow in our footsteps. Aarav is passionate about fashion and doesn’t want to be involved in films. He told me he wants to chart his own course, and I fully support his decision,” Akshay explained.

Akshay also credited his and Twinkle Khanna’s parenting for Aarav’s simplicity. “I’m proud of how Twinkle and I have raised Aarav. He’s a very simple boy. My daughter Nitara, on the other hand, loves clothes,” he added with a smile.
