Disney’s Massive Line Up Till 2027 Proves Kids Movies Are Making A Comeback

Disney used to be considered the most successful movie studio of all time. However, in recent years its releases have not been impressing the young or the older audience. While the studio was known for its films made for kids, it has ventured into films for each and every category in the last decade, which also includes massive franchises like Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Wars and more. The studio has also been working on several other franchises that have turned animated IPs into movies for all ages like Cruella and Maleficent. On the other hand, its iconic films made for kids have been missing from the lineup for years.

However, it seems like the studio is finally getting ready to return to its roots with releases planned in the next three years from Inside Out 2, to Snow White Live Action. As the studio gears up for fun-filled content for kids we are taking a look at the most exciting titles set to release before 2027.

Inside Out 2
Disney is gearing up for the release of 2024’s first Pixar movie Inside Out 2. The film is sequel to the hit original that came as a surprise to many. The film will follow through its original plot as more emotions are introduced in Riley’s mind as she grows up. While Amy Poehler will return as Joy, with Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Lewis Black is also back as Anger and the newest cast member includes Anxiety played by Maya Hawke.

The film is supposed to release on June 14, 2024 and it seems like based on the film’s success Disney and Pixar is likely to keep their focus on similar formats in future years.

Moana 2 And Moana Live Action
The film is set to return for a sequel in 2024 as well and in a full length feature ready for a theatrical release. It has been scheduled for November 27, 2024, but details of the story are still under wraps. The film is confirmed to bring back Auli’i Cravalho, who voiced the titular princess in the 2016 movie as well as Dwayne Johnson as the Demi God Maui. Meanwhile, there has also been an announcement about live-action remake of Moana set to hit theaters in June 2025.

Zootpia 2
2016’s hit film Zootopia is set to return for a follow up scheduled for a November 26, 2025 release. The sequel is expected to explore the lore and complex dynamics of the world created for the film. Zootopia 2 was officially announced during the Disney 2024 Q1 investors call and plot details have been kept under wraps.

Mufasa The Lion King
Lion King prequel, Mufasa: The Lion King is set to release as a live action, but the release date has not been confirmed yet. Directed by Barry Jenkins the film will explore Mufasa’s story as an orphan narrated by Timon and Pumbaa. The film will also explore his history with Scar, and how he became king of the Pride Lands.

ELIO
After Inside Out 2, Pixar has another film lined up for Summer 2025 called Elio. Voiced by Yonas Kibreab, and America Ferrera the story follows Elio who finds himself in space among aliens and cosmic beings.

Snow White
As the studio continues to turn its classics into live action, Snow White has also been confirmed for March 2025 release. Rachel Zegler is set to star as Snow White, with Gal Gadot portraying the wicked magic Queen. While Marc Webb is directing, Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson will pen the live-action script.

Frozen 3
The studio is yet to confirm an official date for the most anticipated film of the lot. But it has been scheduled for a release in 2026. As one of the most success franchise in recent years Frozen’s story will continue with the new sequel. The studio has also brought back screenwriter Jennifer Lee to explore what happens next with Elsa and Anna.

Toy Story 5
While fans thought Toy Story 4 would be the end of the franchise, the makers announced another sequel to continue Woody and Buzz’s story. According to reports the film has been set up for a 2026 release and Tom Hanks and Tim Allen have been confirmed to return.
