Nora Fatehi Gets Schooled By Sonali Bendre, Jaideep Ahlawat After ‘Feminism F***ed Society’ Comment

The recent controversy stirred by Nora Fatehi’s comments on feminism has sparked a conversation among actors Sonali Bendre, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Shriya Pilgaonkar. In a new interview with Janice Sequeira while promoting their upcoming web series “The Broken News Season 2,” the actors offered their perspective on feminism and the misconception surrounding it.

Shriya Pilgaonkar initiated the discussion by emphasising on the need to learn the true definition of feminism. “Feminism is equal rights, it’s not one-upmanship and I think unknowingly a lot of people are feminists already but they somehow don’t call themselves that because they think feminism is ‘male-bashing,” she said.

Her co-star Jaideep Ahlawat echoed her sentiments, indicating his agreement with the definition of feminism as advocating for equality.

Sonali Bendre delved deeper into the issue, expressing discomfort with the connotation that feminism is synonymous with male-bashing. “I am not comfortable with ‘male-bashing.’ We are looking for equal rights and you want equal rights not up and down,” she said.

The discussion stemmed from Nora Fatehi’s recent comments on feminism during an interview on The Ranveer Show, where she said that “feminism f***ed society.” Fatehi’s remarks sparked debate and prompted reflection on the true essence of feminism and its role in modern society.

The actors’ opinions come amidst promotions of “The Broken News 2,” which is directed by Vinay Vaikul and will premier on Zee5 from May 3 onwards. It offers a timely exploration of the interlink between politicians and media, highlighting their influence on elections. The series also features Indraneil Sengupta, Taaruk Raina, Faisal Rashid, and Sanjeeta Bhattacharya.
