The Rings Of Power Contradicts The Lord Of The Rings In One Way; Will Season 2 Explain It?

The makers of The Rings Of Power are getting ready to release season 2, but fans have some concerns about the contradiction in the series from the LOTR lore. According to reports, the showrunners do not have the right to adapt much Second Age material but will have to fill the gap to connect the show to the lore of the films and the books.

Keeping the story and the lore in continuation is also essential for the makers. Reportedly they also legally cannot contradict anything that happens in Tolkien’s books and its plot. The biggest concern for the showrunners would be the big reveal of the show which shows Sauron and Galadriel’s connection. The finale shows him invading her mind and interacting with her. Meanwhile, the lore about the books reveals that Galadriel can “perceive… his mind” and that her mind is closed to him.

The new season will have to explore how Galadriel closes her mind to his influence. And she could be learning at the same time to invade his. Their connection is expected to be the central plot point for Season 2. The new promotional clip for the show reveals several scenes that hint at Sauron invading Galadriel’s mind. While one scene shows her screaming, another shows her covered in red light.

The show also has to explore the massive change Galadriel is expected to go from this age to LOTRs where she is revered as Queen in the Third Age. Currently, she is expected to face exile instead of being praised for her work in the Middle Earth. In the last episode, she was seen heading for the blessed realm but refused to go back. It seems like she will be exiled from the realm for refusing to return. For the unversed, in the Third Age she is known as a powerful warrior and the Queen of Lothlórien.

In season 1 she can be seen struggling often about choosing between light and dark. She even wonders about her purpose and her own choices, but at the end of season 1 she finally firmly rejects darkness. In turn, also rejects advances by Sauron. It seems like her character will grow into a different version in season 2. It will also explore her progressing in power and position into the Third Age.
