Tom Hiddleston Won’t Come Back As Loki? Says Character Has Reached ‘Narrative Conclusion’

Tom Hiddleston is unsure if he will be returning as Loki despite the series’ second installment being a massive hit on Disney+ Hotstar. The actor who is set to return to star in Night Manager recently opened up about the character Loki which he has been playing for 14 years in the MCU franchise. Talking to Jimmy Kimmel, Tom was asked if he is done playing the role of Asgardian god of mischief and Thor’s adopted brother.

The actor candidly said, “I don’t know. I really don’t know.” He went on to explain that the show’s recent conclusion to the character seems thorough. But fans of the series know that Loki is currently the single more important character in the MCU franchise. So much so that the future of the multiverse depends on him. And yet the actor added, “I know that we’ve reached some sort of narrative conclusion with season 2, which feels very satisfying to me.”

He also talked about Loki’s astonishing character development in the last decade and half. He told Kimmel, He (Loki) “once upon a time was making some misguided choices”. However, over the last couple of years including some Avengers movies and the show Loki, the character had changed. About the same he added, Loki now is making “slightly more generous, loving and heroic choices.”

Fans of the franchise, the show, and the actor will be devastated upon finding, or receiving confirmation that Tom might not return as Loki. However, many are hoping it is not true and he will return possibly in one of the films of Phase 5 and 6. The show has been revered with the status of iconic and the actor too said the character has changed his life.

He was quoted saying that playing Loki changed the course of his life “completely”. “Every time someone says that, it kind of blows my mind,” he added.
