The Show On Showbiz

The Spiller Of Beans

The show’s host, Mukesh Chhabra’s talent acquisition skill, has given Bollywood stellar talents including Rajkumar Rao, the late Sushant Singh Rajput, Mrunal Thakur, and Sanya Malhotra, among others. For over 15 years, the industry’s foremost directors and producers, including the likes of Rajkumar Hirani, Anurag Kashyap, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor, and others, have entrusted Mukesh Chhabra to nail the perfect cast for the characters. So who better for a tete-a-tete with the nation’s best storytellers to spill the beans on Bollywood casting?

Mukesh Chhabra (Casting Director) said, “It is a show to motivate budding and aspiring actors in this industry. The Bombay Dreams is a freewheeling chat that talks about casting, directors, and how they think, and what goes behind the process of casting of actors.”

Sidhhart Aambalyan (Content Head, Fork Media Group) spoke on how he met Mukesh Chhabra and conceptualized the show. He said, “It was on May 29, 2023, that I actually went and met Mukesh because we thought there were synergies as Mashable India, the platform that we have built for the perfect amalgamation of great content around entertainment culture, technology, and automobiles. You would meet Mukesh’s storytelling, and you would open the pitara that he has, which basically contains so many stories.” He further added, “Whenever someone says the word casting, the immediate next word association that would come to anybody’s mind would be casting couch. And why is it that such a big and intrinsic process of filmmaking was limited to just those two very weird associations? So we said, Let’s take the storyteller and the pitara stories that he has and make a show out of it. That’s when the team Fork Studios, and thanks to hashtag Extra and Jaslene Gupta, we were basically able to actually create a show in collaboration that could have directors come in and discuss the very intrinsic stories, not just the casting but also the atrangi yaari, and thanks to partners like LG, OLED, and QLED TVS. Thanks to Mukesh, who’s been able to spare time while casting for such massive projects, we have season one of five episodes ready. This is going to be a great set of stories that are coming forth from Mashable India. We hope to have new questions coming in from the audiences so that we can build a great IP again from the hub that has brought you great shows like the Bombay Journey, Mashable Mornings, Every Picture Tells a Story, etc.”
