Bollywood’s Mr Perfectionist, Aamir Khan, is all set to return to the big screen with Rajinikanth starrer Coolie. His extended cameo seems to be one of the most-awaited sequences of 2025. While fans are waiting to see him in a new avatar in the movie, chatter behind the reason for his involvement in the film started surfacing online. It started being reported that apart from the cameo, he is also looking after the distribution of Coolie’s Hindi version.
Well, his team has now responded to the speculation and dismissed the rumours. A spokesperson of the 60-year-old actor’s production banner, Aamir Khan Productions, has clarified that he has done a cameo in the film only because of his friendship with the director and the superstar.

Khan’s team stated, “Neither Aamir Khan, nor anyone from his team, is involved in the distribution of Coolie. Mr Khan has not made any calls to any exhibitor or distributor. His cameo in the film is purely a gesture of his bond with director Lokesh Kanagaraj and Rajinikanth. Everyone at AKP, especially Aamir Khan, is thrilled with the success of Sitaare Zameen Par’s YouTube release and is overjoyed with the response it has received.”
For those who don’t know, the rumours surfaced when a report by Bollywood Hungama claimed that the Laal Singh Chadda actor made a direct phone call to Ajay Bijli, PVR-Inox’s head, to push for premium showcasing of Coolie across the country.

Produced by Kalanithi Maran’s Sun Pictures, the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial is headlined by superstar Rajinikanth. Coolie also stars Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, and Monisha Blessy, along with Aamir Khan in a special cameo. It is to be noted that Coolie is a part of Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) along with Karthi starrer Kaithi (2019), Kamal Haasan starrer Vikram (2022), Thalapathy Vijay starrer Leo (2023), and Raghava Lawrence starrer Benz, which has yet to be released. The movie is scheduled for release on August 14, 2025.
On the other hand, Aamir Khan will be next seen in Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Coolie. He has also confirmed to headline Rajkumar Hirani’s upcoming film, a biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian cinema.
