Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda-starrer Saiyaara opened to a smashing success for the debutants. The romantic musical drama directed by Mohit Suri of Zeher and Kalyug (2005) fame earned Rs 20 crore on the opening day at the box office.
The movie has now joined the leagues of the other three highest-earning movies on day one, namely Housefull 5 (Rs 24 crore), Sikandar (Rs 26 crore), and Chhaava (Rs 31 crore). Opening in 7000+ shows with an overall average occupancy of 50%, the movie is hailed by young fans.
Analysts believe the movie will cross its budget of Rs 60 crore on day 2 of the release.
Will the Mohit Suri magic work for Saiyaara in making it a blockbuster of the year? Remains to be seen, but fans are gushing about the movie already. The soundtrack of the movie is already a hit with the audience, topping streaming charts. Produced by Yash Raj Films (YRF), the studio behind iconic movies like Veer Zaara and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, among others, the intense romantic drama’s success would give moviegoers a breather from spy thrillers and the horror genre that has become a staple in recent years.
