Animal Effect! Netflix And Jio Studios Tussle Over Bobby Deol’s Next Film; Deets Inside

After his role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, Bobby Deol’s popularity rose to a whole other level. Even though it was a small role, the audience loved his performance in the movie. Some even demanded a spin-off of Bobby’s character, Abrar Haque, from the film. And this new popularity of the actor has led to a tiff between two OTT giants.

According to the reports, Netflix produced Bobby’s next film, titled Penthouse. Reportedly, director Duo Abbas-Mustan has helmed the project. The movie features Bobby, along with Arjun Rampal and Sharman Joshi. As per the reports, Netflix has paid around 70% of the cost to the producers. However, the OTT giant wanted the filmmakers to increase the role of Bobby in the movie. The makers didn’t agree to the request as they felt that it would mess up the storyline of the movie.

When Netflix got to know that the filmmakers were not willing to make changes, they called off the deal and asked producer Sunil Khetrapal to return the amount.

Now, after Animal’s success, Netflix got in touch with producer Sunil Khetrapal and asked if they could renegotiate the deal. It was clear that Netflix wanted to capitalise on the popularity of Lord Bobby. However, the rights to the film Penthouse are currently with Jio Studios, and due to this, both the OTT giants have come in front of each other. We wonder if there will be any changes to the deal. Only time will tell the tale.
