Bollywood actor Salman Khan is currently busy promoting his upcoming film Sikandar. On Wednesday, he hosted promotional group interviews with the media and spoke on many topics. Amidst it all, known for his cheeky and witty answers, he seemingly took a dig at filmmaker, actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut during a discussion about nepotism. For those who don’t know, she has always been vocal about the privileges “nepotism products” enjoy in Bollywood and how self-made and hard working actors suffer from unequal opportunities.
During the discussion, Khan was asked about being a self-made star. Denying the statement, he expressed that he doesn’t believe that anyone in the world is self-made as it is all “teamwork.” Sharing an example of his father, veteran filmmaker Salim Khan, he revealed that had his father not come to Mumbai and left Indore behind, he would have been farming there. Since he came to the city and worked in films, being his son, he had two options, “either go back or continue here.”

“People bring new terms for all this, like that thing all of you use a lot — nepotism. I love it,” he added. When a reporter mentioned Ranveena Tandon’s daughter Rasha Thadani making her Bollywood debut, earlier this year with Azad, he misheard them. He feigned surprise and asked, “Kangana ki beti aa rahi hai?”
Once the chuckles died down, he continued saying when Kangana decides to have kids, they will have the opportunity to either enter Bollywood or Politics. Quoted by the Free Press Journal, he said, “Ab Kangana ki beti aayengi, toh films karengi ya politics join karengi, toh unko bhi…” A few mentioned “nepotism.” Agreeing with them, he shared that they will also have the option “to do something else.”

Talking about Sikandar, the AR Murugadoss directorial is one of the most anticipated films of Bollywood in 2025. Media reports suggest that it was extensively shot in Hyderabad and Mumbai, with a budget of Rs 400 crores. Set to release on March 30, 2025, Sunday, Sikandar stars Salman Khan, Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi, Prateik Babbar, and Sathyaraj among many others in pivotal roles.
