Emraan Hashmi’s latest action thriller, Ground Zero, which hit theaters on April 25 has shown slight recovery at the box office after a modest opening. Directed by Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, the film collected Rs 1.9 crore nett on Saturday, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
With a two-day total of Rs 3.05 crore nett, the film is gaining traction despite facing stiff competition from Bollywood heavyweights like Sunny Deol’s Jaat and Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2.
Ground Zero is a gripping portrayal of a pivotal chapter in India’s counter-terrorism history, inspired by the real-life heroics of Border Security Force (BSF) officer Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey. The film chronicles Dubey’s relentless pursuit of Ghazi Baba, the mastermind behind the 2001 Parliament attack and the 2002 Akshardham Temple attack in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

Despite its compelling storyline and positive reviews, Ground Zero faced a lukewarm start, earning Rs 1.15 crore nett on its opening day with an overall Hindi occupancy of 8.63%. The film’s release coincided with the recent Pahalgam terror attack, which some reports suggest may have impacted initial audience turnout. However, the film bounced back on Day 2, achieving a 13.64% Hindi occupancy and raking in Rs 1.9 crore.
Made on a reported budget of Rs 50 crore, Ground Zero reportedly the first movie to have its red-carpet premiere in Srinagar in a span of 38 years.
