The wait for Anushka Sharma’s much-awaited comeback film, Chakda ‘Xpress seems to have no end in sight and some are even speculating that the project might have been shelved. In an exclusive interview with News18, actor Dibyendu Bhattacharya, who plays a key role alongside Anushka, shared his excitement for the biopic while expressing confusion over its delayed release.
The film, a Netflix project produced by Clean Slate Filmz, has yet to see the light of day, leaving both audiences and those involved in its making in suspense. “You don’t know how badly I’m waiting for the film to release because it is a fantastic film,” Bhattacharya told News18.
He recounted watching an incomplete version at director Prosit Roy’s home, urging him to share it despite the unfinished edits. “I told him, ‘It’s not releasing, but since you have it, at least show it to me.’ He said it wasn’t completely finished, not everything had been done, but I watched it and… it is such a beautiful film.”

Bhattacharya was full of praise for Anushka Sharma’s performance as cricketer Jhulan Goswami, calling it her finest work yet. However, when asked if the film has been shelved or merely postponed, the actor admitted he’s as clueless as the fans. “I have no idea. If I had any information about the film, I would tell you first. I really don’t know because Clean Slate is on one side and Netflix is on the other. What’s going on between the two, I have no clue,” he said.
The actor also highlighted the emotional and financial toll of the delay. He emphasised the hard work poured into the project, from research to the final cut, and the many others whose livelihoods depend on its release.
Announced in 2022, Chakda ‘Xpress marks Anushka’s return to acting after her 2018 film Zero with Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. Produced by Clean Slate Filmz, founded by Anushka’s brother Karnesh Ssharma, the biopic was set to stream on Netflix. However, reports last year suggested that the partnership between Clean Slate Filmz and Netflix had ended, causing delays in the release of several projects, including Chakda ‘Xpress.
