Kareena Kapoor Reveals Steven Spielberg Praised Her For 3 Idiots: ‘Didn’t Have To Act In An English Film’

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan has made a name for himself in the Hindi entertainment industry with her versatile performances. Over the years, she has earned a name for herself. She recently attended the second day of the inaugural WAVES summit 2025 and spoke at the Cinema: The Soft Power panel alongside filmmaker Karan Johar and actor Vijay Deverakonda. She openly spoke about Indian cinema’s global reach and even recalled her meeting with renowned American filmmaker Steven Spielberg.

Recalling the impromptu meeting, the 44-year-old actress revealed that she and Steven were eating at the same restaurant, during the time when 3 Idiots had just released, in 2009. Recognising her from the movie, he had come up to her and praised the film.

She continued, “He actually came up to me and said, ‘You’re the girl from that very famous Indian film about the three students.’ I said, ‘Yes, that’s me.’ And he said, ‘My God, I love that movie!’ So, you know, I didn’t have to act in an English film for him to have seen 3 Idiots. That, I think, was a special moment for us.”

Directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, 3 Idiots starred Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi, R Madhavan, Kareena, Boman Irani, Mona Singh, and others in lead roles.

For those who don’t know, the World Audio Visual and Entertainment (WAVES) Summit 2025 was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, May 1, at the Jio World Convention Centre. He called it a historic moment for India’s cultural and creative industries. The four day summit, which is themed “Connecting Creators, Connecting Countries” aims to position the country as a global hub for media, entertainment, and digital innovation. The event which began on May 1, will continue until May 4.

On the work front, Kareena Kapoor Khan was last seen in Rohit Shetty directorial Singham Again. A part of his cop universe, the film also has an ensemble of Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff, Akshay Kumar, and others. The film failed to impress the audience. She will be next seen in Meghna Gulzar directorial Daayra. The movie will also star Prithviraj Sukumaran. The film is expected to hit the theatres by the end of the year or early 2026.
