In 2020, Mika Singh, renowned singer, ventured into film production with the series Dangerous. To ensure a smooth debut, he teamed up with Vikram Bhatt, the director known for successful thrillers like Raaz.
Singh revealed that Bhatt’s entire crew to manage the project and initially planned to cast Karan Singh Grover alongside a newcomer to stay within budget. However, things took a turn when Bipasha Basu, popular actress and Grover’s wife, expressed interest in starring alongside him. What was initially seen as a dream team quickly devolved into a challenging experience for Mika, leaving him with a negative view of production.
Speaking on the podcast KADAK, Singh talked about his experience working with the Bollywood couple, he even said that his experience was “horrible”. He revealed that initially the shoot was planned for 3 months but it got stretched to 6 months that costed a lot to him.

He said, “I took a team of 50 to London for a month-long schedule. However, it extended to two months. Karan and Bipasha created a lot of drama. They were a married couple so I booked a single room for them. But, they were like, ‘No, we need our separate rooms.’ I didn’t understand the logic. They then demanded to shift to a different hotel. We did that as well.”
Singh added that during the shoot, Grover fractured his leg that delayed the schedule even more. He recalled, “They even created issues while dubbing the film. They were giving excuses that they have sore throat and other things. I couldn’t understand the drama, especially when they were paid for their work.”
Singh expressed frustration over Karan Singh Grover and Bipasha Basu’s refusal to perform a kissing scene, despite it being in their contract, labeling it as unnecessary drama. He also criticized how stars show deference to major production houses like Dharma Productions and Yash Raj Films, but exhibit a different attitude towards smaller producers, questioning why their investment isn’t given the same respect.
He noted, “I have now decided to never produce a film and I advise the same to others. And if at all they consider making films, please give an opportunity to newcomers.”
