Only Murders in the Building has returned for another season with Selena Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short in the leading role. Unlike in the previous seasons this time, many of the supporting cast like Meryl Streep and Paul Rudd Have also returned for the new season. After three seasons of only solving murders, for season four the makers have introduced something new, something more, something unique, which keeps the thrill of the series going despite the repetition of the main plot.
New episodes pick up right after the end of season three, and Sazz’s Murder becomes the main plot point for the new season. But this time, similar to season one things become personal for the leading characters. They also have their own challenges to face, including a movie deal which is important for all three of them. One of the biggest parts of season four that works the best is the comedy and the element of bringing the entire story to a full circle.
While Selena Gomez was the centre for season one and Martin Short was for season three, the season four mainly belongs to Steve Martin, as it is his stunt double who dies in his apartment. It also hints at the danger our podcast runners are in. This season also has a lot of subplots unfolding, but this time they also happen out of the need to solve a murder.
Many characters have their own motivation which are not driven by the murder or the leading characters, which is fun to watch and adds more to the complex story. Even though at times, it feels crowded the charm of the screenplay keeps the audience focused in the right direction.

With plenty of changes and similarities, season 4 manages to keep you hooked once again with twists at the end of each episode. For the first seven episodes, the makers have enough to keep the story busy and the plot is expected to reveal the real details in the last three episodes of the season.
The full circle isn’t just about the murders of Arconia but also brings these characters to a full transition. We not only get to explore more of the Arconia but new characters also add more to the plot taking the story away from the city. Hats off to the writers who managed to keep the story rolling despite following too many characters to keep track of. The comedy often refers to its own flaws and continues the unique aware and meta-commentary on the industry and worst traits.
Selena Gomez as usual has great chemistry with Steve and Martin Short. The new characters in the show including Zach Galifianakis, Eugene Levy and Eva Longoria who are seen playing some version of themselves. Despite their do have shorter screen time, they also get shining moments as a group and as actors who are set to play these characters.
