Ahead of Lollapalooza 2025, Shawn Mendes is enthralling Aamchi Mumbai, and the Mumbaikars can’t be grateful enough.
Ahead of the music fest, Mendes gave a private performance of his hit song Senorita in a Mumbai basti. Draped in a chic shawl, he wooed the gathered audience that jammed along to the unplugged melody. There were several kids present in the audience who sang along as Mendes crooned the lyrics from the hit number. A personal bodyguard and a camera crew tagged along, even as the onlookers took videos of the street gig.
Reactions poured in on social media, with several taking a jibe at how the Bengaluru cops stopped a similar street performance by Ed Sheeran in February. The ‘Shape of You’ singer was in town for his then India leg of the Mathematics tour. The cops unplugged Sheeran’s mic midway, cutting short the performance. Fortunately for Shawn Mendez, there were no Bengaluru cops around. Meanwhile, the rest of non-Mumbaikars are jealous of the fans who witnessed Shawn Mendez unplugged in the city. One netizen wrote, “If Jealousy Is A Disease And I’m Ill.’ Another user jibed, “Achha hai Bangalore mein nahi hua.”
The Canadian singer first gained popularity on Vine in 2013 with his covers of popular songs, a year since he learned guitar from online tutorials. Now in over a decade of his professional music career, the 26-year-old has been a three-time Grammy nominee. The popstar now features alongside a stunning line-up of artists, including the Greendays, in the ongoing Lollapalooza 2025 that is being held from 8th to 9th of March.
