Directed and acted in by Donnie Yen as the lead, the film explores the story based on real events. It follows a former cop who joins the department of justice (law) to ensure the criminals pay for their crimes and innocents walks free. His first case as a prosecutor tests him and the people around him as he goes against the department and he sets out to prove the accused in not guilty.
The film begins with a celebrated cop on a trial with the state trying to prove the man they caught is the leader of a drug mafia. However, after several attempts and risking the lives of his own team, the criminal walks free. The incident leads him to retire as cop and put his next three years into becoming a lawyer and joining the department of justice. His experience as a celebrated cop does garner him much love and respect in the department, but it also adds to his loyalty for the job. In turn helping the people around him also learning about the same and dedicating their lives to the work and the wellbeing of the public.
The film focus on one particular case of a young man being arrested for drug trafficking when his addressed is used to deliver 1kg of drugs. He claims to have only shared his address for delivery and had no idea what was being sent to him. However, despite his attempts to tell the truth, the set of lawyer from a major corporation suggest that he should plead guilty and get ask for leniency in the punishment. When the case does reach the court and falls in the hands of the former cop, he is quick to realise the accused in not guilty.

He makes attempt to help the accused despite working as the prosecutor. It puts him at odds with the other lawyers in the department and also gets him in trouble. But despite almost losing his job Fok Chi-ho, makes sure he brings Ma Ka-kit to justice and gets him out of jail. The rest of the runtime, follows their experiences on the two sides of the law and how one person can help change the system that fails its own people.
Donnie Yen’s films are known for his action sequences but we get every few of them in the runtime for this film. It is Donnie’s performance as a passionate cop and a lawyer that the makers seems to have focused on and he delivers as an actor and a director. In recent years, Donnie is known for his role in John Wick franchise and thought there isn’t anything similar in the storyline, the film does remind you of the action heavy sequences of Yen.

Overall, the film is a fun and easy watch. It could also be a gateway into more action Hong Kong based films. It is currently streaming on Lionsgate Play India.
