Despite facing setbacks in the last few years, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan made a name for himself in the entertainment industry with his Mr Perfectionist tendencies. His choice of films and his character studies often stand out. He is all set to return to the big screens with his film Sitaare Zameen Par, a sequel to his 2007 film Taare Zameen Par. While details about the film’s release are yet to be revealed, he has opened up about his character and even gave a gist on what the film is all about.
For those who don’t know, he recently visited China, where he enjoys a huge fan following, to attend the Macau Comedy Festival. It was there, during an interactive session with one of his fan clubs, that he opened up about his upcoming film. He revealed that Sitaare Zameen par is a remake of the Spanish film Champions. Expressing that his character in the film is completely opposite to his character Nikumbh in Taare Zameen Par, he also shared that he plays a “very rude” basketball coach in the upcoming film.

The 60-year-old actor shared that the R. S. Prasanna directorial is almost ready. Calling it a sequel to the Darsheel Safary co-starrer, he said that the film is thematically “ten steps” ahead. Sharing a gist about the film, it focuses on differently-abled people. “Taare Zameen Par made you cry but this film will make you laugh. It’s a comedy but the theme is the same,” he added.
Quoted by Indian Express, Khan also opened up about his character. He said, “In this film my character’s name is Gulshan but his personality is exactly opposite to Nikumbh. He is very rude, politically incorrect and he insults everybody. He fights with his wife, mother. He is a basketball coach and he beats up his senior coach. He is a person with a lot of internal problems.”

He went on to add that the story is about how he changes. How the ten people, “some of whom have down syndrome, autism, different abilities,” teach him to be a good human being.

Aamir Khan starrer Sitaare Zameen Par is based on the sports Spanish film Champions, where a basketball coach is sentenced a community service to coach basketball to the intellectually disabled, for driving under the influence. The upcoming sports drama is directed by R. S. Prasanna. The movie reportedly also stars Genelia D’Souza and Darsheel Safary. Fans are excited to watch the film on the big screens.
