Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan was seen using crutches on March 14, 2025, as he attended the funeral of veteran actor-filmmaker Deb Mukherjee in Mumbai. The actor, currently recovering from a knee injury sustained while preparing for his upcoming film War 2, made the effort to pay his respects despite his condition. The somber event drew several industry figures, marking the end of an era for the 83-year-old Mukherjee, who passed away after a long illness.
Hrithik’s injury happened during rehearsals for a high-energy song sequence for War 2, a much-anticipated action flick directed by Ayan Mukerji, Deb Mukherjee’s son. A representative confirmed the incident, stating, “Hrithik has injured his knee. He wasn’t shooting, but it happened during rehearsals for the song for War 2. The doctor has advised him to rest.” The mishap occurred as Hrithik practiced alongside co-star Jr NTR, with the dance-off now delayed until May due to his recovery needs.
On Friday, Hrithik arrived at the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Juhu, supported by elbow crutches, a sight that caught the attention of onlookers. A source close to the War 2 team shared, “Hrithik really pushed himself during the rehearsals of this energetic song with Jr NTR for War 2. He got a niggle in his leg during rehearsals that was quite uncomfortable, and when the doctors inspected his injury, they advised him to not risk it further and rest out his leg before he shoots this massive song.” Despite the setback, the film’s production remains on track for its August 14, 2025, release.
Deb Mukherjee’s funeral saw other celebrities like Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Kajol, and Karan Johar in attendance. Hrithik’s presence, even while injured, underscored his bond with the Mukerji family as he supports Ayan through this loss while gearing up for their joint project.
