‘Does The Dog Die In Good Boy?’: Netizens Continue Asking Days After Trailer Release

Good Boy has been making the headlines ever since its trailer was released a few days ago. Directed by feature debutant Ben Leonberg, the supernatural horror movie left everyone intrigued because it is told from Todd’s pet dog Indy’s point of view, him navigating through dark entities, who only he can see, to protect his loved humans. While the movie has certainly ignited curiosity amongst the audience, only one questions everyone is asking is if “Indy the dog dies in the film.”

Scheduled for a release on October 3, 2025, Good Boy has seemingly united the internet with the same sentiment: their request to not let the dog die while trying to save his humans. According to a report by News18, the chatter has escalated to the point where Google has reported a 2000% surge in the search of the question, “Does the dog die in Good Boy?” Many have even drawn comparisons to dog-centric movies like Old Yeller, Marley & Me, and Hachi: A Dog’s Tale.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) handles, netizens have hoped and prayed that Indy doesn’t die in the film. One wrote, “Good Boy looks absolutely heartbreaking and one of the most unique horror films. The Actor’s (Dog) name is Indy :)” Another tweeted, “Google searches for “does the dog die in ‘GOOD BOY’” spiked over 2,000% since the 2025 horror film’s trailer dropped. Good news: Indy, the dog, does not die in Good Boy, per reliable reviews.”

For those who don’t know, Good Boy garnered a good response from the audience during its world premiere at the SXSW Film & TV Festival in March. Co-starring Shane Jensen, Arielle Friedman, Larry Fessenden, and the director’s real-life dog Indy, the movie is co-written by Ben Leonberg and Alex Cannon.
