Actor Sooraj Pancholi is poised to return to the silver screen after a four-year hiatus with the film Kesari Veer, which also stars Suniel Shetty, Vivek Oberoi, and Akanksha Sharma in prominent roles. His last appearance was in the 2021 movie Time to Dance, and during the trailer launch of Kesari Veer in Mumbai, Sooraj became visibly emotional while discussing his comeback and conveying deep appreciation to the film’s cast.
At the event, he stated, “This is a very special film to all of us. Thank you, Kanu (Chauhan), for giving me the chance. Thank you, Akanksha…” As he spoke, his emotions overwhelmed him, his eyes filled with tears, and he paused, unable to continue. Suniel Shetty, standing nearby, offered him comfort.
When questioned about his four-year absence from films, Sooraj explained, “Life. Many things I had to clear from my life. Everyone knows about it (Jiah Khan’s case). There’s nothing more hiding behind it. My mother (Zarina Wahab) says good things take time. I was waiting for the right film, and I don’t think I could have ever gotten a better film than this to let me say a comeback.”
For those unaware, Sooraj Pancholi was embroiled in a widely publicized case following the tragic suicide of actress Jiah Khan, who took her life on 3 June 2013 in her Juhu apartment in Mumbai. A six-page suicide note detailing her strained relationship with Sooraj Pancholi led to his arrest on charges of abetment to suicide. After 22 days in custody, he was granted bail. In 2023, a decade later, a special CBI court in Mumbai acquitted Pancholi, citing a “lack of evidence” in the case.
