Indian comedian Tanmay Bhatt very well knows the feeling of finding himself in trouble because of his jokes not sitting well with a section of the audience. Having faced his fair share of ups and downs in his career, he recently spoke about Kunal Kamra’s ongoing controversy over singing a parody song on Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde of Shiv Sena. As the comedian has become the talk of the town, Bhatt also shared his two cents on the matter on his new YouTube video.
In the video he is seen chatting with other comedians like Rohan Joshi, Aditya Kulshrestha, and Kaustubh Agarwal. The video was titled, “KUNAL’S GOT LATENT.” They were seen reacting to memes on the entire fiasco as well. He starts the video by welcoming the viewers on an episode with “only comedians safe right now.” He goes on to say, “Interesting week for comedy.”

The 37-year-old comedian adds that post the controversy, he has started getting messages from people asking him if he is okay. He adds, “As usual, any comedian gets into trouble, I get a message, ‘Tanmay, are you okay’?”
Aditya jokes about how jealous Tanmay must be feeling as he didn’t get into trouble during Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent controversy. Bhat also mentions that in The Habitat, they had a place where photos of the comedians were hung. He revealed that he always told the owner, Balraj Singh Ghai, to also have his photo there. Rohan jokingly adds, “Abhi waha bahot jagah hai.”

For those who don’t remember, the comedian through his recent stand up comedy show was seen taking digs at Eknath Shinde, through a song he wrote, set to the tune of a popular song from Dil Toh Pagal Hai. The song didn’t go down well with many Shiv Sena workers of the Shinde faction, as he had called him a ‘traitor’ for separating from his own party.
Despite backlash from political leaders, Kunal Kamra through his statement maintained that he wouldn’t be apologising for whatever he had said. “I don’t fear this mob & I will not be hiding under my bed, waiting for this to die down,” his statement read. Addressing the mob that vandalised The Habitat and also the “political leaders” that have threatened to teach him a lesson, he slammed Shiv Sena workers and “unelected members of the BMC” for vandalizing an entertainment venue like The Habitat.
