Vijay Raaz Acquitted In 2020 Sexual Harassment Case Due To Lack Of Evidence; Details Inside

Vijay Raaz – widely recognized for his performances in films such as Gangubai Kathiawadi, Stree, and Dedh Ishkya – has been cleared of charges in a 2020 sexual harassment case lodged by a colleague during the filming of Sherni, which starred Vidya Balan.

The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Gondia declared the actor not guilty of all accusations. Judge Mahendra Keshao Sorte delivered the verdict, dismissing all claims under Indian Penal Code Sections 354-A (sexual harassment) and 354-D (stalking), due to insufficient evidence and the prosecution’s failure to substantiate the case. For those unaware, the Bollywood actor faced arrest in 2020 for allegedly molesting a crew member while working in Gondia, Maharashtra, but was granted bail shortly afterward.

Meanwhile, during his time at the Pannalal Girdharlal Dayanand Anglo Vedic College of the University of Delhi, Vijay Raaz was actively involved in the dramatic society. Driven by his passion for acting, he secured a notable role in Ram Gopal Varma’s 2000 film Jungle. Additionally, he appeared in a cameo in the inaugural episode of Jaspal Bhatti’s well-known series Flop Show. His entry into the film industry began with the 1999 movie Bhopal Express. He gained widespread acclaim for portraying Dubeyji in the 2001 film Monsoon Wedding.

His other significant projects include Aan: Men at Work, Mumbai Express, Delhi Belly, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Chandu Champion, and Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, among others. Beyond acting, he explored filmmaking and debuted as a director with the 2014 film Kya Dilli Kya Lahore, featuring actors like Manu Rishi, Raj Zutshi, and Vishwajeet Pradhan. The movie garnered favorable reviews.
